Smelling of dog and camp fire, I wisely decided to jump in to the shower this evening. All was going well as showers to go when I noticed my ankles were a lot wetter than usual. Looking down there was a greater volume of water than my feet were swimming in, my drain was blocked.
I dug my freshly manicured fingernails down my drain and pulled up what felt like half a pound of gunk and hair out of my shower drain…. Gross…!!
It was another visual reminder to me how I should not let things build up. My walk with god is of daily repentance, of searching my heart, confessing my sins and turning from them, in love and obedience to my Heavenly Father. Never should I let my sins build up in my heart that they begin to spill out in to my actions, or cause a critical blockage to the Spirit to the extent that my whole church family and God have to seriously bail me out.
If I were not so content to let things build up, never would I have to do dig my fingers in to my own muck and dig out the gunk that I have freely let fester in me. Daily watchfulness, prayer and repentance would be far less painful, far less gross…
Needless to say, it was probably the biggest hair monster I ever had to pull out.
